To install Project Manager on your web server:
- First download the program files in either ZIP [.zip]
format for Windows, or G-zipped [.tgz] format
for Linux or Macintosh. Unzip the archive and move the project_manager folder to a location
accessible to your Web server.
- Configure the folder on your Web server to execute php, and to recognize "index.php" as
the default document.
- Open a command prompt, shell or Mac Terminal, and CD to the project_manager folder
- Start MySQL and create a new database for the application. Switch and use that database.
mysql> create database project_manager;
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.24 sec)
mysql> use project_manager;
Database changed
- run the script project_manager_create.sql inside the database. This will create the tables,
relationships, and stored procedures that power the "back end" of Project Manager.
mysql> \. project_manager_create.sql
- Download the project.ini file to a location close to, but outside of, your
Web folder. Ensure that access is limited to your Web server user [IUSR_MACHINE-NAME on Windows, consult
your server admin on Linux or Mac] Edit this file to provide the appropriate database name, user name, and
password.
- Edit the file project_defs.php to change the line:
define('INI_FILE', 'path/to/file/project.ini');
to reflect the relative path from index.php to project.ini
Project Manager should now be ready to run.
